Sig $$$ up

Lots of stuff has been said about the latest contract win for the military’s latest pistol contract. Many are upset, a lot are not surprised.

Has anyone noticed the price raise for sig lately for all models across the board?

The same gun up for the contract is half the price, from s&w!

I remember when beretta and Ruger went at it in later years. It was close back then yet beretta won the contract. I bought the kp 89dc back then. Many police departments adopted as well as other agencies. This was during the caliber wars. Mine still runs tight groups even after 10000 plus rounds.
Yes, I do keep it in great cleaned condition at all times. I was lucky enough to buy even an extra barrel and spring, never used to date.

Just worderering if I’m the only guy to notice the new higher prices for signs?

Not so much the prices on readily available Sigs, but I am noticing the lack of availability of P250/320 grip modules, especially in FDE, and 15/17 round magazines. And the small number that are available are priced thru the roof.

I think this is expected when companies have to fulfill major contracts. LMT’s MRPs are difficult to find these days and the barrels all received a significant price increase…wonder if this is somehow related to devoting a lot of available resources to fulfill the NZ contract?

That might explain the P320…but the MPX have gone up because of greed. Sig took off features and charged more.

Prices here same as they were

Theres asking price and real price.

After sitting for a while on the same shelf, eventually the vendor will say “This pistol needs a home”, and as “Arns of an Angel” by Sarah Maclachlan plays, he puts it on GB with no reserve or cuts prices to pre-hike leveks

Everything is getting cheap around here. I like the SIG 320, but I definitely wouldn’t pay any crazy premium. It is just yet another Glock +.

2 months ago stuff was very reasonable online compared to others I recalled. Now All modeled jumped through the roof. No I’m not a dealer, that’s why I pulled this post up. Yes I do own a 226 model. From what I have seen has been a $200-400 $ jump for all models when a Government only, made for a modular model not even proven yet. Not that I have have any worries it’s a banger model to do what it says, yet why across the board raise of prices for all models? Why is a 380 compact or anything other for sale at this price. Greed or greed for a contracts and more. Yes I love mine but I will never pay a grand for something that was never at that cost before. Why is an officer compact $1000 bucks now when was 800 weeks ago? There stuff is legit, but should we have have to pay extra for other models other than contract stuff? Greed? Or not!

I’ve been managing a lgs since October when I was laid off from my previous job. We sell P320s with factory night sights for $585, and Glock 19s without night sights for $555. By the time a person adds night sights and changes out the horrible Glock factory trigger they’re into the 19 for around $700.

Right now our most popular pistols are the P320 and Glock 43. I can sell them almost as fast as I can get them in the door. Sadly, our 3rd most popular is the Taurus PT111. :suicide2:

From what I’ve seen the prices are not going up. As mentioned earlier, grip modules are hard to find right now. The prices are very good. I found a sale on HK VP9 pistols at $495. If anything, prices are down on most firearms at the moment. Hopefully ammo will follow…

Thanks for the insight on this topic. It’s much appreciated.

I bought my Sigs used with minimal wear on them… so I saved some decent cash…

FWIW, the Sig is cheaper at dealer(both w/o night sights) unless SW is running a promotion. If there is a severe increase in price it is by your dealer. The 320 line has remained the same price since introduction.

Sadly? Maybe everyone that walks into the store doesn’t have a bottomless wallet or wads of cash for a handgun. Maybe they are finding out that you don’t have to mortgage the farm to own a 9m/m?

No, you’re wrong. Taurus is a bad way to go, and it’s sad to see people WASTING their VERY hard earned money on them. This argument has been hashed out hundreds of times on this board, and Taurus has lost each one. There is no need to rehash it.

Do you even Gekko, Bro…?

The problem sounds like the gun shop you are dealing with. All of the shops I deal with have the exact same prices they did when Sig first introduced the P320. Sigs and Glock prices have been the same for years, not one of their models increased in price, but I deal with honest gun shops.

Which S&W that you mention won a military contract? and which model is half price?..Maybe it’s just me but I don’t understand your post.

Never mentioned Taurus in my post. My point was you don’t have to break the bank to get a handgun that will do the job you’re buying it for. No argument that Glock,
Sig, etc. are good and capable handguns, but there are a number of others at a lower price that will also do the job. Just a matter of personal preference and what they can afford. A lot of people new to firearms who would like to get involved get turned off by those who tell them that if they don’t spend “x” money, they’re idiots and to forget about it. That elitist attitude doesn’t do much to bring more people into the fold. Don’t get me wrong, there is some garbage stuff floating around, but it doesn’t take a lot of effort to find some exceptable models as well. If someone can only afford a Hi-Point for his night stand, don’t you think that would be a lot better than a bat? And regarding Taurus, I assume you have ownwd a few and have had problems with them, right? If not, you’re just parrotting the usual interweb musings.

I got into the handgun fold when at 18 years old. I was gifted a brand new Hi-Point JCP.

I know I have said it in the past, I will say it again for 130 dollars it was in 2010, it has fired a couple thousand rounds at this point. I have my gripes with it, but it was my bedside gun until I was 20 when I received a Canik TP9 from the first wave of import.

Also was the handgun I practiced with all the time for a couple years.

Since then I have bought glocks, taurus, magnum research, s&w, ruger, and some other randoms.

What I have learned is that lemons come and go, always. Its a machine, and it’s not always possible to predict where or when something may fail.

However, engineering wise, some designs are much better than others.

It doesnt take a genius to know that a Glock 22 is better than a Hi-Point JCP.

But sometimes, things are hidden or unnoticed, or looked good on paper, not good in physcial application.

The MR40 I had would not combat reload if the striker was cocked, but the trigger was in the forward position; the trigger bar would block a fresh magazine from feeding in smoothly. Would that kill someone in a firefight? Probably not, as most conditions wont ever run into that. But for me, it was enough of a reason to trade it off.

Nonetheless, the real gist of the point is, different quality of firearms exist and are available due to varying preferences and needs. I like that, supports our “Open Market” so to speak.

Single mom stuck in a bad area supporting multiple kids and bills, they might save every penny to afford something like a taurus, hi-point, foreign import/copies. I promote open market, and if the item fits the person’s needs, more power to them.

I would rather every legal citizen who wanted a firearm for positive intentions to have a firearm, not continue to make it more and more difficult.

Ahem; actually on topic, sigs are still “cheapish”. I say that, because anywhere I go I can still get them cheaper anywhere online with transfer. My locale is pretty in the know about online pricing, or they’re big box shops and dgaf.

Sorry, I haven’t replied. S&W base model (M&P) is around $425 base model. This is the model that didn’t get the contract( not a base model). Which I never stated they won! The sig P320 base model (not Gov. Contract model), new starts at around $700 online or maybe less with searching. Maybe I should have started the post as government losing guns are great deals for the public at almost half the cost of the winner. Yes, I do love my Sig! I was just pointing out a real price jump from their company… Has it have been really proven yet on this model? That is been yet to been seen in my eyes yet from them for a striker-fired gun. Sure, parts Are cheaper to make fore these types of pistols, modular is great, platform changes is also great as well on the fly as long as one has them on hand. Frames, slides, barrels have no serial numbers? Only fire carrier group do as I have seen as yet. I could be wrong on barrels, since haven’t had one in hand broken down. I do love the concept of this government contract gun. Time will test this new weapon.
