Yesterday got to handle the new Sig 226 E2.
If blindfolded and handed the E2 and then the 226, you’d not think them the same weapon.
Understand from Sigforum that this was accomplished with same frame but 3-4 different internal parts (Mainspring & boot). Also understand older models may be converted by installing these parts, but such part kits may not be available for some time (year +/-).
Anyone heard anything more?
Wonder if the 220 will ever get this improvement?
The E2 was sweet. One of my favorite things at SHOT.
The P299 E2 is supposed to have more substantial changes than the P226. The slide uses the P228 styling, it has a larger external extractor, and the mag holds two more rounds.
Are people who are familiar with Sigs and their decrease in quality still buying Sigs anyway? I’m not.
I’m wondering if this package could be had with alternate sights (specifically 10-8 Sights w/ Tritum inserts) or added later - definitely something I’m interested in.
Not sure how much these would be differentiated from the M&P9 JG if sent back to the PC for a trigger job, and after aftermarket magazines start to pop up, similar to the arredondo extensions.
Find one of the “Navy” guns and you’ll be fine. I’d also suggest having Sig install the SRT trigger mechanisms.
I’m not sure I’d purchase some of the latter pistols though.
