I have a 686+ revolver that I am looking for a good quality holster for. To be used at carbine/pistol courses and for open carry situations. Any recommendations? Thanks…
Check out Bianchi, while you probably will not find the latest high speed gear aimed toward revolvers, I bought a Bianchi for my 686 years ago and it has done everything I needed to do.
I use a Bianchi 5bh holster for my model 66. This is a thumb break holster that will fit both K and L frame revolvers. It comes in both a lined model the 5bhl, and unlined the 5bh. I know that Midway sales them so you can look there to get an idea of what they look like.
I use and would highly recommend a Milt Sparks #200AW holster made especially for a 686. Wonderful holster that can be had with or without a hammer shroud to prevent snagging on clothing. Originally designed by Elmer Keith and it still works like a dream…and comfortable as can be.
I used a Comp-Tac holster when I used to own a 625.
I’m fond of the Kramer Scabbard. I use one with my S&W M28, which is a heavier frame than the L is.
Horsehide, it will hold it’s shape for years of hard use, and carries VERY well.
