Should I upgrade my plates or wait for light ones to come out?

I run 10x12 Gamma Plus US level III ceramics. They are thick and suck but work. I run it mainly for range and training use. I want to have one set of plates that wont crack.

I cringe at the thought of breaking these plates every time I fly into the prone postion. I train hard on my own and dont want to worry about wrecking the plates. Maybe I should go with steel? I dont need level IV but do want level III stand alone multi hit.

Should I wait for 2 pound polymer 1 mm thick crazy plates to come out? How much heavier is steel III compared to ceramic?

I want it for realistic training, range safety, home defense, SHTF, and any defensive situation that would require gear.

I never used side plates. How effective are they? I use a frontal stance most of the time so my chest is facing the threat. Might wait for side plates when they become polymer.

Look at the TAC3S and SAPI3 plates. They are a lighter non-ceramic hybrid plate, multi-hit. Good info. on the website and video. Ryan Oneil is the guy to talk with there.

He was trolling, and is gone now.
