I know these are great rifles and Chris Costa just got involved with them after leaving LaRue due to their production constraints and backlog or so the story goes.
My bottom line question is if you could pick one up would you? I have never seen or handled one in the “wild” and wanted to bounce it off all the knowledgeable people here first as it’s a lot for one rifle for me… Thanks for the input.
Yes we use them and they are worth it. Can’t beat the night signature on anything other then suppressed. Gas system is very “thumpy”. Impulse is light and very controllable
Not first AR. Currently have 2 Colt’s 6720R Talo (LOVE this one) and a Socom. In addition a pinned 14.5" BCM middy. So lets have the discusiion as I lust over KAC products from parts to NV. Is THIS rifle worth it? Or should I wait for a KAC SR-15?
ETA: Also working on two other builds currentlyt and I would eventually really like to also pick up a Daniel Defense M4A1 and a DD MK18 whenever the overlords allow my stamp to be proc
My honest opinion is no. Now, that is coming from a few directions. One, I have never heard of the company, Costa involved with them or not, I would like to know others who have spent a lot of time behind the rifles. Two, that rifle cost more than what I have in my BCM middy build, with DD rail, Surefire M600Ultra, and Trijicon Acog, with enough left over for me to replace the ACT trigger with a Geiselle, and buy some more mags and ammo and considering I could do the same build with the BCM stainless barrels for basically the same price I am going to be hesitant to go with a company that I know nothing about. That said, I know nothing about them and they could be the shit and all, but for me I don’t see it being worth it personally. Third, if it is in the same realm as KAC in regards to the price I would go there because I see KACs offering something that your average BCM/Colt/DD rifle doesn’t.
Again, my personally opinion, and again I know nothing about the company you are referring to so that should be taken wholehearted into account.
Lastly, if it is one of those guns that you just have to have I understand that as well. I just had to have an H&K P7, not rational reason other than it made my cock hard. If this rifle does that for you then rock on, but you are truly wanting a KAC, and that is your unicorn then wait and buy that rifle, because honestly, in the long run, if that is what you really want, you will be much happier with that purchase over something that is jsut a stop gap.
If you have the money and it’s not going to set you back or make you remortgage your house, I’d be looking forward to your feedback. Some people seem to love them, and I can’t help but wonder if it isnt their way of justifying such an expensive rifle. You’ll never know unless you try.
And if it turns out to offer little advantage, you could always scribble on the rail with a sharpie and sprinkle some pubes on it. Then sell it for twice what you paid and say it was used and signed by Costa. Someone will pay what you’re asking…
You have a few factory rifles, why not pick every single part out and get exactly what you want? When I do this in my head I still end up way short of $2800 (more like $1900).
Somethings I would want changed:
Are CMC triggers the best of the best? Probably want to use a Geissele SD.
VLTOR Upper without a FA? I want a FA, maybe this is an option. The upper pictured in the store shows no FA.
Silly nit: If the 45-degree ambi controls are standard, why aren’t the lowers marked for them? Its a $3000 rifle, just saying.
If you have the means, what the hell. If I didn’t want to go through the trouble of building something, and I wanted Gucci, then KAC or Noveske.
I live right down the road from War Sport and get a chance to shoot the LVOA frequently. It’s not an entry level gun, but you will never outgrow it if you make it you first AR purchase. It’s on my list of AR’s to buy and at $2,800 its a steal, especially with WS customer support! There’s a lot of people that have reservations about the LVOA, and I was one of them until I held it and shot Joey’s personal gun (the 12.5" prototype) and a few others that I was convinced.
LOL the Costa remark was funny. Thank you for all your input and hopefully I can get more. The little understanding I have of this company is that it’s a niche company, built to order and commands money and those that have these carbines love them. I also would really appreciate it if someone like Failure2Stop could chime in because I believe or have been told that War Sport is some sort of subsidiary or sister company of Knights Armament? Lastly, I know it is expensive and I don’t know anyone with trigger time behind one. I really want to pick it up because it’s rare and made very well but at my age 28 it would be either this or a KAC SR15 for a goodd while, probably a couple of years so I’m torn.
Kain what exactly do you mean by “thumpy?” I know the recoil impulses are almost non existent but am confused by that word. Thanks again guys with your help I might save a lot of money or grab it depending on the consensus of a serious tool and naturally my inclination. I appreciate this forum so much, have done so much reading and just feel like I am always surronded by virtual geniuses on here!
RayRevolver it does indeed have a forward assit. I like that feature, even if I never use it I still want it there. That’s just me so we are in the same boat on that one.
First of all, I see a lot of people throwing Costa’s name around here. It should be noted that the carbine he was promoting was the LVOA-S, which is an SBR version that has a very “unique” (in his words) operating configuration… it’s a 12.5" barrel with a mid-length gas system.
I don’t see how the LVOA-C is anything special being that it has a mid-length gas system on a 14.5" barrel, much like what you can find on a BCM for half the price.
It has a Battlecomp on it… it’s going to have a worse night signature than an A2 muzzle device. And the idea that suppressors wipe out the signature is sort of absurd, too. You can see quite a bit of muzzle flash on all kinds of suppressors.
I dont understand what the big deal is for that kind of money.I really dont see what you are getting for 1k more than a sr15 other than someones endorsement and a weird looking rail.
I had the choice of any rifle I wanted and ended up choosing an sr15 and Im happy enough to buy a second when the mod 2 ships. If you are going to spend that kind of money on a rifle atleast buy one that offers advances to the current AR15 platform.
im in no way saying the warsport is a bad rifle, just that its way overpriced(imo)
