I am thinking of getting a second progressive press (Dillon Square Deal) just for pistol calibers. I already have a 650 and love it, and I know I can do more pistol rounds in less time than running on of their 550 series. However, right now my 650 is set up fit rifle and I’m case prepping and will be soon doing a mass .223 reload process.
I hate having to break down the press, change calibers, and small primer push and tube, plus powder bar. I can’t help that I am causing more wear on the press, too. With have one dedicated to pistol, I could keep the 650 majority of rifle, unless I need to do a lot of reloads for a pistol caliber.
Should I go for this, or spend the money on components, which was going to be my plan until this little idea popped in my head.
When I was shooting high volumes of handgun ammunition I owned two Dillon Square Deal reloaders set up to load the two calibers I shot the most. I also own a RL550B. I currently have one Square Deal set up to reload 9mm and the RL550B. It’s well worth the expense.
2 is better than 1 If your at that point … With the upcoming elections and the point being, I think factory ammo and reloading components are going to get hard to find again for a while,maybe depending on who gets elected a looong while, again. I hope not but looking at trends the possibility is very strong it will.
Maybe stocking up on reloading supplies and I mean years worth of supplies ,could be an option. With out it a press is useless. Just food for thought.
