Shotgun trash

Did you get permission to post that copyrighted material on YouTube?

No offense, but what kind of silly question is that? Do you really think anyone asks for a permission?

If you are posting copyrighted material to YouTube you are violating YouTube’s TOS and you are also in violation of federal copyright law.

Fully agreed—NCPatrolAR has a stickied thread on this very subject. It’s really no joke anymore.

Sure, but who cares? Seriously, nowadays noone bothers about copyright no more. Except for some lame music companies which sue 10 year olds.

The people who took the time and effort to make the product care. And the feds care. The feds still “bother about copyright”.

If no copyright permission you have probably forfeited any ability to ever take an LAV class…and live.

False logic. Mr. Vickers is not a multi-billon dollar recording company. He’s a decorated combat veteran, who has a wife and family to support.

Grzechotnik, you would be wise to remove the link in your post and the copyrighted material from YouTube.

In case it needs to be said, this is a statement unburdened by fact.

Particularly in light of the fact that the primary personality of said copyrighted material posts here from time to time.

Hell, he posted here just today in another thread!

Not necessarily. There is something called the doctrine of fair use, so the blanket suggestion that posting copyrighted material is a “violation of federal copyright law” may or may not be true.

One also needs to bear in mind the whole “moderator staff of the privately-owned website said NO” clause.

Until Scrabble recognizes “copyright” as a synonym for “Remington 870,” (hint: thread title) it might behoove one to move past talking about copyright law here in favor of talking about it in a separate thread in an appropriate subforum.

Yes, one should recognize this…but it is a different issue from that of federal copyright law.

Since the OP initiated the dialogue on copyright law in the thread he OP’ed, I thought it would be permissible to comment on same. I aplologize for the error…

Fair Use does not cover posting copyrighted tv shows on YouTube. Trust me on this. I am in this field.

I am not allowed to discuss this any more…
