Just curious what y’all’s stock choices are and why you prefer them. For that matter you can add what shotgun you use and why you like it! Post away…looking forward to some great reading!

I see a ton of various things being used, but I’ve always had good luck with basic Remington synthetic ‘youth model’ stocks.

I prefer the ergonomics of the Speedfeed IV Tactical.

So far my favorite shotgun is the FN SLP MK I. Lower felt recoil than my pump and it runs and runs. I’ve put it to the test and it keeps up.

I have an 870 Express that I’ve had for about 16 years. I put an adjustable stock on it and I like the ability to adjust the stock.

Neither. I just prefer an aggressive, squared-up stance, and I find that most ‘standard-length’ shotgun stocks were meant for planed-off bird shooting, not squared-up aggressive shooting.

If I was wearing kit, I’d probably want one of those Hogue ultra-short stocks, but they are too short for me to use without wearing some kind of thick stuff on my torso.

I have small hands and the finger to trigger placement suits me well.

Speefeed IVs cut down to 12.5" length of pull. Allows for a shooting stance more squared up to the target.

Issued: Mossberg 590A1, 18" GRS, Bantam stock.
Prefer: Rem 870P similarly configured.

All my shotguns (and rifles) have short LOP stocks, wood or synthetic. Either bought that way, or after a trip to the table saw.

870P with either the Remington youth stock or the speed-feed youth stock.

Remington 870P 20" with Speedfeed “youth/body armor” stock.

I’m 6’2" and MUCH prefer the shorter LOP for an aggressive stance like LHS.

If you can take Rob Haught’s shotgun class, you’ll learn to appreciate the shorter LOP stocks.

What sling mounts are you running and how do you like those sights compared to the other offerings?

Wilson front sling point, GGG rear.

I actually don’t like the way the rear sling point lets the buttstock swing around when just standing or moving. Also, not as ideal as I thought it would be for shoulder transitions.

I’m going to get a rear attachment point that moves the sling to the rear of the buttstock.

I’m pleased that manufacturers have noted the need for shorter LOP options, and have been increasing their options.

I shot an M2 and the FNH SLP Mk I today…both are nice and had “traditional” shotgun stocks not PGs. I think, after 20 years of Cowboy Shooting, that I am a traditional stock kind of guy. I just don’t see the PG doing anything for me! I’ll try one as soon as I can and we’ll see!

Speedfeed youth stock. Plain black synthetic stock (no shell carrying feature), plastic butt-plate (not the grippy Remington rubber recoil pad), hole for a swivel stud on the toe of the stock. I had my 870 setup w/ one of these, a 1 shot extension, and a standard two point sling.

Just took Shotgun I with MichiganTrainer.com today and WOW are youth stocks way better. Instructor agreed 110% about using Youth Stocks. The factory “adult” stock is way too long for a proper fighting shotgun (I learned the hard way, ouch!).
