I am interested in a chest rig to carry ammo for my shotgun and pistol…and some general gear like flashlight etc if there is room. This would be used for range work but also be available for use in a SHTF type scenario.
I like the chest rig setup since I can wear it and my backpack at the same time (I think) which carries all of my “bug out gear” if you will…basically a serious camping trip with guns
So does anybody have any experience with a rig like that?
Here is one that I found that comes pretty close to what I am looking for. I would switch out the AR mag pouch for a utility pocket, and add a flashlight pocket. The only other thing I would really like is a holster added somewhere for my 228. Any ideas? I really like the idea of a crossdraw holster mounted on the upper chest (obviously this rig would not work for that).
Anyway, post some ideas, and help me figure something out.
Thanks
Since I don’t own a rifle, a shotgun / pistol rig is the way I roll. I am non-LE and non-Mil, so this is just for a personal rig for home.
This is actually a picture from another member’s post. The shotgun pouch is a dedicated pouch that holds 12 rounds, and only works oriented in this fashion (which I happen to like). There is the original thread:
No doubt. I have actually contacted them about the possibility of putting pistol mag pouches in place of the unility pouch…though I figure I could line up my mags in that pouch as it is if I had to.
Really, I want something a little larger so I can have a few more pockets, and possibly my pistol all mounted on the rig. I really like the TT MAV, and it does have an optional “bib” that could possibly be the home of a crossdraw holster mounted on my upper chest.
Really, it all comes down to money. Those fancy dedicated shotgun shell pouches shown above are perfect (in my opinion) but they are freakin’ $55 each. Two of those, a few mag pouches, utility pouches, and the TT MAV to mount them on, and I am looking at over $200…I don’t know at this point…do I go with something that is cheap and will work, or pay the big bucks and get something I really want (and sure as hell don’t NEED).
So the saga continues.
