Shotgun Drills & Standards

Anyone have a good source for shotgun drills and standards?

R,

I don’t have any shotgun “standard exercise” suggestions. A lot of what you can do with a shotgun course-of-fire has to do with the targets available (paper, steel swingers, steel knock-downs, etc). Most practical shotgun scenarios look a lot like practical pistol scenarios. Often there will be a “select slug” target, off at a distance, to require the shooter to get loaded with a slug rapidly. If you want to mess with the shooters, make the first target a “select slug” engagement. This will reinforce the wisdom of keeping a “dead space” in one’s magazine (that is, loading one round short of capacity). Also, since the “select slug” engagement is typically during or at the end of a scenario, one will see many shooters get the slug into the chamber and then attempt to fire with the safety still engaged.
