Shot timer . . . which one?

I’ve got a 25 year old Pact timer that doubles as a chronograph. Still works but I’m looking for something smaller/simpler. Considered the Pact Club III but some of the reviews have me concerned.

What seems to be the most reliable timer in use for training?

I have a Pact club 3 that I have been using for about a year. Very easy to use and to read, and I have had zero issues with it.

I’ve used a Pact Club 2 for about 8 years. Love it, no issues. Not sure what’s different with the Club 3, but if I had to buy a new timer, I’d definitely look at what they offer first.

My pocket pro 2 has been great.
If I was buying again Id check the Pact 3 out… but no complaints about the pocket pro.

Pocket pro 2 or club 3. Amazon runs the pro 2 for $105 regularly which seems to be one of the better prices going.

Happy with the CE Pocket Pro 2 for my personal use.

At work we used CE Pro-Timers - we had a Pro-Timer III that lasted a decade; the Pro-Timer IV’s that replaced it and the PACT Clubs (Glock Branded - laid down the first year) were still going strong.

As I said, we had two Glock Branded Clubs that did not last.

We used timers fairly hard, several times during firearms training putting each student officers went through our standards drills - some more than others LOL - plus a lot of split taking during regular training with pistols and shotguns. Usually about 250 - 300 student officers a year.

The CE’s were so solid that when I retired and could no longer ‘borrow’ the work timers I didn’t hesitate to buy a Pocket Pro.

Just my experiences.

I have a PACT Club 3 and its worked mostly ok for a year. When I was shopping for one, none of them got glowing reviews, but the PACT has worked pretty well, including dropping it a few times. It doesn’t pick up suppressed shots very well though.

Thanks, guys!

Went with the CE Pocket Pro Timer II from Amazon at $105.29.

Pocket Pro Update:

Screen failure

I hate it when I get the rotten egg!

Ordered from Amazon and still within the return window. Will be contacting Competition Electronics first and will report back the results.

If you’re gonna end up returning, it may be worth trying out this: https://www.amg-lab.com/

You’ll be beta testing, but the features seem very interesting.

Thanks!

Just contacted about their return policy.

A free program on my iPhone.

Defaultmp3, thanks for the link. Just completed my order after getting a response from them. Said they consider the beta testing done as they have been running a prototype for awhile in competition in some difficult environments.

There’s more info HERE starting with post #10.

Yeah, I originally saw it on PF. Maybe beta testing isn’t the right word; I’d just meant you’d be an early adopter, with all the possible teething issues that a new product will have during production.

The Pocket Pro was returned and AMG Lab’s website still states shipping was to start 11/22 and supply is sold out.

So, we’ll see how soon it gets here . . .

It did come, finally had a chance to get it to the range and I’m happy!

Looks like you’re happy with your choice. Just wanted to add, my Pact Club III went sideways on me a few weeks ago. It is no longer recording the correct number of shots. Its also showing wildly inaccurate times in the review portion. This is after around 18 months of ownership. Contacted customer service and they were helpful but do charge $20 for any repairs just FYI. To be 100% fair though, I have dropped the timer a few times (on dirt) and it has seen a fair amount of dusty conditions, however, I wouldn’t consider that abuse and I have never gotten it wet.

Make Ready app, even works for dry fire.

Just as a heads up to those who have had issues with the pact club 3. Mins also went on the fritz and was tracking really weird split times. Turns out there’s a sensitivity dial under the battery. I turned the sensitivity down and fixed the issue.
