Im going to get a dedicated .22LR can, most likely a DeadAir Mask, in the meantime, if is a terrible idea to shoot .22LR through my SandmanS? I have a .22 conversion kit for my SBR, so far I have shot it without the can to be safe but was wondering if I can use the can.
My worry is about how dirty .22 is and the inability to disassemble the can to clean it.
I rarely, and I mean rarely, pop off a 22lr sub through my AAC M4-2000. The AAC brake should take most of the beating and I only do it to pop an armadillo at night and grin at the quietness. I bet I shoot five hundred 5.56 rounds for every one 22lr sub through the can. No problems thus far.
I did it with a sealed 5.56 can and found that bits of the lead that coated the inside of the can broke off and became projectiles, when shooting 5.56, that put pits and dings in the baffles and end cap.
I say don’t do it unless it’s some kind of emergency.
Yes nice to have, just sux the stamp cost around the same amount as can. I have a Surefire on SW AR 22, runs like a sewing machine. Mine def needs cleaning as I have never done so.
True, but once you are into the kit like a JK Armament one you’re double the cost of a .22 can + stamp. Is there another kit? I never really looked for .22 kits.
It’s not so much about the cost as it is the ability to have your can in hand in quickly. For a 22lr can, I wouldn’t think twice about going the form-1 route.
Coincidently I found them this weekend. Seems like they wont ship until you have a Form1 approved which is rather annoying. Im thinking of getting a .22 and 9mm kit from them.
