Saw this yesterday. 15 round flush fitting metal magazine for the G43X/G48. This is the prototype but seems to work fine. Will definitely be buying a few of these when available.

We’ll see if they can get it to work reliably in mass produced format.
Until then it’s one magazine full on Youtube looking for attention.

Well that was quick, but if were mechanically that easy, why didn’t Glock offer it to begin with?
Why did no one do this with a regular 43?
If they can get 15 rounds in a 43x/48 magazine, I wonder how many they can put in a G19, or G17 magazine. I’m definitely interested in this.
Metal mags for double stack Glocks like the G19 have been around. One issue I recall hearing about is the metal chewing up the mag catch. I don’t know how reliable they are.
I’ll speculate that a metal G19 mag might not be as reliable because Glock already designed their mags to be double stack. Then with the added width added by the polymer casing, it results in a wider grip frame. If you use metal mags, you gain extra width inside the mag, but the mag would be too wide since they’re already double stack as designed by Glock. With the 43x and 48, they’re not true double stacks. So a metal mag with additional width inside could allow for more rounds without compromising reliability.
Potentially, but it always seemed to me that the metal lining inside Glock double stack mags was thinner than an actual “stand-alone” mag body, like the M9.
I’d love to have one of those aftermarket G48 mags apart, just to see how different in design it is compared to stock.
I must say, I’ve wondered why our G43 mags are designed the way they are…a weird staggered single stack.
Did Glock do that to cram an additional round into the space of the mag, I’m guessing?
Like jack mentioned above, I thought Glocks and metal mags were/are very bad juju? Or has something changed?
A metal mag release would seem to fix that issue right?
This makes zero sense. There’s no reason why a double stack magazine that’s internally wider than OEM won’t work if the feed geometry to the breech is maintained.
I want to see them seat the magazine on a closed slide. If it won’t seat then the truth is that it is a 14+1 round mag.
Could be great, could be a dog.
It all depends how they designed it and how they mass produce it.
Time will tell, I won’t be a first adopter.
