I want to make this rifle lighter so I looked at parts that I wanted to keep, which is the scope setup, Larue receiver, Noveske barrel. So that leaves me the rail, flashider, stock, buffer, lower to look at. Out of those my first choice was the rail. Best option for me was the Troy Extreme battle rail. I went with a 11" instead of the 13" so I could save more weight. My rifle weighs 9lbs 5.6oz as it is right now with the Larue 13.2. After I made the swap to the Troy rail it took it to 8lb 14.6 oz. That is with 2 short rails attached to the handguard and a Viking Tactics sling mount. So by doing that I saved 6.4oz. Doesnt seem like much but thats 6oz was in the front of my gun. It feels like it points better. I also took advantage of the postal scale I was weighing everything on and weighed some random stuff I had. Here is what I got. I think the SOPMOD is the best stock for the weight. So that doesnt leave me much more to change to save weight. I would like to get the new Leupold 1.1-8 CQBSS and not have to run the Trijicon red dot/ Nightforce combo. My lower is a LMT and I dont think I can go any lighter. I do have a H-buffer so I imagine switching to a standard buffer would save some weight as well but rearward weight doesnt bother me as much as the front end. I also ordered a AAC M42K to go with that AAC Brake. Might have my next barrel fluted or dimpled to trim some weight.
SOPMOD=11.9oz
