I recently attended the below suicide prevention for service members and 1st responders. They have cracked the code, using disruptive therapy, meditation, and a 500-day follow-up. If you or someone you know needs this go to the web page and apply.
Active, retired, part-time, etc. doesn’t matter.
Save A Warrior is the original, Warrior-led, timeless heroic journey for active duty military, returning veterans and first responders who feel desperately alone. We offer an alternative holistic service that equips veterans, military personnel, police, firefighters and other first responders with a community of support and effective techniques to overcome the symptoms and addictions associated with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress.
Any personal experience with this group? Or know anyone who participated it in? There’s a lot of groups out there with good intentions but not all have the depth and/or resources.
As I say in post #1 “I recently attended…” They are excellent, their donated campus is beautiful with a large main house and a new house that can host two classes simultaneously.
Sorry brother. Missed the first sentence. Last part read like an advertisement brochure. Made me skeptical. Appreciate the post. Passed the info on to our Peer Support coordinator as a great possible option.
No problem, the part you reference is a cut-paste from the web sight. They have over 2,000 alumni now, with only two suicides post-graduation. Each “class” called a cohort is 10 men or 10 women, and the post support is excellent. If someone is tired of fighting the demons and ready to heal I can’t recommend them enough. It’s been almost nine months since I attended, and the meditation and the work (workbooks with a fellow member, other books, Zoom meetings, getting into AA or other 12-step programs) have transformed me. I feel better than I’ve felt in decades. I’m happy, and motivated, and self-care is back to normal. I’m no longer co-dependent and left my abusive wife. Asperger’s traits that have driven me crazy since I was 9 years old have disappeared. I rate my C-PTSD at an A-. I’m no longer angry. No one can push my buttons. I don’t have buttons anymore.
Meditation literally heals the brain of physical and trauma damage (trauma damage also creates physical damage at the neuron level). It builds new clusters of neurons in the frontal lobes and restores glands and structures back to normal. The first thing that most people notice within a week of twice daily meditation is a return of short term memory.
Interesting. This makes me wonder if they might have unintentionally stumbled onto a blueprint for autism therapy… I live with AS myself, and while there’s no denying the strengths it’s given in some situations it also gives major PITA in others.
That’s good to hear. And thanks for giving feedback. I think historically that’s what’s been deterring some folks from seeking treatment is not many personal stories out there. Lots of new treatments out there as well. Many of which sound promising.
I’ve been a fan lately of the Shawn Ryan Show podcast. He has some pretty good guests on there who really open up. Some true warriors.
