Is there a parts service interval published anywhere? At what round count should I be replacing parts? At 1574 rounds, the tip of the firing pin looks like it’s squared off unlike a brand new one. I replaced it to be on the safe side (hell, for $10 no big deal right?). As posted in an earlier thread, one of my gas rings disintegrated at 1,350 rounds so I threw in a new set. Is this wear and replacement premature?
I am not a big fan of replacing parts unless required. That is why Preventive Maintenance is so important (and it needs to be clean in order to inspect properly). I do change all the springs at about 5k to 6k (but only because it is VERY hard to tell whether a spring is still in tension visually) but as far as the other parts, they get changed as required (due to wear or just looks funny, like your FP).
