Just like the title says, I need to find some Red Dot powder. Any help would be appreciated. I mean come on, why is there still a powder shortage anyways.
Red Dot is very scarce right now. There are likely a few cans tucked away at gun shops, and reloading shelves.
I have my favorite powders but also deal with a list of alternatives, depending on what I’m trying to do. If you REALLY want Red Dot I would look to gun shows, and the private seller market. You may have age and quality control issues to deal with though.
I would include a combination of including alternatives, as you look for the elusive Red Dot.
Red Dot is a traditional shotgun powder used also by handgun shooters. Recently I acquired an 8 lb keg from an old skeet shooter who’s no longer active. I have a big powder supply bought during the last few years, and it all came from this type source. So, you might investigate the skeet club angle. I promise you that the powder is out there.
My local Cabelas had a few 8 pound kegs a couple weeks back. Am reloading with green dot so I didn’t grab any.
I would agree, check out the trap and skeet clubs, might be able to get a line on it there. Bought my last 8 pound of green dot from a local trap club for $130. They have had Red Dot as well.
Bruno’s Shooters Supply near you has 1 pound cans in stock.
I think my local shop has some. I’ll check next time there and let you know.
Willie, I’ll put it this way. Bruno’s is our local equivalent to CTD. The minute something happens up go the prices. At $36 a pound when it should be $19-$22 a pound Bruno’s can keep it on principle alone. I’m all about supporting the local guy but when the local shop does this kind of stuff my money goes elsewhere.
Everyone else I’ll have to do that and check my local clubs.

Our local gun store has Promo, but they won’t ship powder. I just bought 8 lbs.
Try E3 if you can find that, very similar to red dot and works well across the board.

Yea its a bit high for my taste also plus I don’t need it. Not sure why you need Red Dot,I have my pet powders also,but change is good sometimes,LOL I bought 16LBS of pistol powder from American Reloading around New Year and am more than pleased with it,it’s more along the lines of Universal & I have loaded several hundred rds of 9mm/45acp and it is great stuff at a fair price,I would check it out if ya are really in need of pistol powder.

Market price is $19-22 dollars for 1lb every where else but Bruno’s or the site M1A posted. Wideners, Mideay, Grafs, Natchez, Recobs, gamaliel.

That’s the price and its OUT OF STOCK,they can list it all day long but if they don’t have it they might as well post a sign that says FREE POWDER,big deal !! Times are tough,I went to a gunshow last Sunday in San Antonio Texas while visiting my Daughter & saw WW231 for the 1st time in like 3 years,but would you pay $40 bucks for it,I know I wouldn’t,LOL Adapt & overcome,use what ya can find that will work end of story,LOL

If the only guys who are actually selling it are pricing it at $30+ per pound, then that’s the market price.
If you “seriously” need it, then you’ll pay it. If you won’t pay it, then you don’t “seriously” need it.
Regarding Clays, it’s absolutely unavailable anywhere, right? At this point I’d happily pay $200 or more for an 8lbs jug…
