When the X300s were released, I didn’t see any point in putting a longer light onto my pistols since I thought the 175 lumens were enough for them. Plus I already had some holsters for the X300s so I bought a couple more from the EE, knowing how good SF’s customer service is. I sent one back a little while ago for the loose lens issue and because I had damaged the mounting system. Turns out they sent me an X300U as a replacement. I’m definitely not upset with getting the newer, more powerful model as a replacement, but just found it interesting. I guess they’re trying to completely phase out the 300s.
Lol. Nice. Wouldn’t complain myself, though holster selection for the Ultra is still less than the older X300 though there are some options out currently that are having me eying my X300 and thinking it may get put in the back of the safe and my X300U moved to the bedside since it isn’t getting used since my go to ALS won’t accept it without removing the bottom cap.
Anyway, back on topic. I imagine that Surefire may very well be phasing the X300 out in favor of the Ultra completely and at this point may have even run out of replacement parts for the X300. Who knows but them.
Surefire is great to work with. Over the years I have sent a couple things back and always had great results. Never got the newer model but happy none the less.
