Meant to say Semi technical question in the heading; but it’s not possible to edit the title for some reason.
Anyway, I just acquired a Colt 6450 LE 9mm carbine. Everything looks original Colt; but the washer on the flash hider looked suspect to me. The carbine came with and A1 flash hider installed with a peel washer(which wasn’t indexed). Since it’s a A1 flash hider, is indexing it all that important? I called Colt with the serial #'s and they told me my carbine was made in 1996. I then asked what type of washer was used with the flash hider; the guy told me the same type crush washer used on 5.56x45mm version Colt AR’s. So I replaced the peel washer with the crush washer. Does the flash hider on this particular model need to be indexed to certain specs? Does anyone out there have a factory carbine in this model(6450 9mm) that came with a peel washer? Any help would help me out, thanks.
