Hello new guy wondering if there is any benefit to having a auto or semi auto BGC? Putting together a MK18 clone thanks in advance ![]()
I’ve always heard auto is better: a tad more weight and it’s the way it was designed from the start.

I’d recommend a M16 carrier for any 10" AR and depending on the gas port size a heavier buffer. My 10" LMT has a gas port size of .078" and I run a H2 buffer (4.6oz) for suppressed and non suppressed fire and runs 100%.
Mine wasn’t a factory 10" LMT, I had it cutdown from a LMT factory 14.5", factory 10.5" LMTs have a gas port size of .071"
SAW (Specialized Armament) recommends an X buffer (8oz) with their 10.25" genuine Colt CQBR barrels when shooting suppressed and a H3 buffer (5.6oz) for non suppressed. The gas port on them is .091"
For all 10" guns I’d also recommend a Wolff or BCM 5 coil M4 extractor spring, the black extractor buffer and a Crane O-ring or MGI D-fender.
Thx gotm4… I was thinking of going with the Bravo Co. auto BCG and will get an H2 buffer
