how much of a PITA is it to sell a suppressor?
I have some that I have out grown and want to replace.
I need to use the money for the new cans, so it’s either keep the old or sell and buy new. not both.
thanks.

The same process more or less that it took for you to buy them.
Your cans are on a form 4. You can sell your silencer to another individual in the state you live and transfer on a form 4 (person to person). This is the best way as only one $200 tax will be needed by the individual that would purchase your can.
If you sell the silencer to someone outside of the state you live, a $200 tax will be needed to transfer the can on a form 3. Once shipped to the dealer in the buyers state a form 4 will need to be submitted by the purchaser (again $200).
It is not cost effective to sell the can outside of your state if its on a form 4. No buyer will pay the first tax unless:
A: It is a super rare/ desirable can.
B: The can is REALLY cheap.
Once you have a registered silencer you are pretty well stuck with it unless you want to take a loss. Even if you could trade straight across for the can you want you would still be loosing $400. $200 for the original registration of the old can + $200 to register the new can you want.
My advice would be just keep them and save start saving for what you want.
but I want so many…:suicide2:![]()
To sell a form 4 item to an out of state buyer, after researching with my NFA examiner, tranferred on a form 4 directly to the buyer’s class III dealer. He then transfers on a form 4 to himself.
Are you being serious or just posting for the hell of it? Please grow up a little.
