Sell SCAR 16s to get 17s

I’m waiting on the tan SCAR 17s. Should I sell the 16s to get it?

Depends.
Do you like spending twice as much on ammo?
A few years ago I had an AR-15 but sold it to get an HK91 because I wanted “more gun”. For my general plinking and SD purposes the ammo just ended up costing too much. I never felt I needed the extra range or energy of .30 cal with a semi-auto military rifle I mostly used for shooting silhouettes at 100-200 yards max. I ended up selling the HK91 and going back to an AR-15. I still use a .30-06 Model 700 to hunt deer with but for my military guns 5.56 works just fine for me. And if I want to do anything long-range or accurate my bolt-gun is perfect for that and does the job a lot better than anything I’ve owned that was semi-auto.

Good point the 308 ammo cost way more I would need access to a long range to make it worth while.

Don’t get me wrong I think the SCAR 17 is really cool but its basically just a more “spendy” version of the SCAR 16. It takes Premium instead of Regular.
.30 caliber rounds are great for range and accuracy but for me atleast I like to shoot them out of bolt-action rifles, not semi-auto rifles. Now if I was in a combat or SHTF scenario I would certainly take the 17 over the 16 but if you’re just going to be plinking and maybe doing some carbine classes unless you have a lot of extra money laying around I think a 5.56 rifle will work just fine.

If you have a good AR in 5.56 and can live without the 16s then I’d go for it.

I’m also interested in the 17s (and I have the 16s), but I’m still waiting to see a lot more accuracy results before I grab the 17s. I want one, but only if it’s at least 3/4 minute with good ammo. If I get one I want it to fill a couple of certain roles. If it can’t then I believe there are a few other 308s that can. I’m excited about the 17s. I believe it might turn out to be something great partially due to weight and balance.

I plan to keep my 16s either way.
