Sell me on BCM Gunfighter charging handles...

So, I’ve seen several threads on this board, as well as others, where someone swears by the their Bravo Company charging handles as a “can’t live without” addition to the AR platform.

Explain this to me please. I’m not a naysayer, but I’ve got badger or similar tac latches on all of my AR’s except for my SBR rocking a PRI gasbuster.

I guess I’m just curious as to what makes the BCM the shit?

They say GUNFIGHTER on them!

Duh

It’s not your usual CH with a tactical latch. Instead of the “latch slot” milled all the way through, its rear is solid and its latch is design in sucha way that it anchors against the solid rear. This eliminates the stress on the roll pin which has been known to break off on occasion.
A side benefit is also that it feels much more solid than a sregular CH with a tactical latch.

hmmmm. just as I thought.

Nah that was pretty funny though huh.

Once you use one you will know, I remember reading about them and thinking the same thing you are.

Theyre tough, I havent broke one yet.

I broke a charging handle before. I dont know if it was me or the CRAP I was using haha.

I dont wanna talk about it:mad:

Read the post above yours which gives detailed information.

I have a Mod 4 on my 16" carbine length (until I get a 14.5 mid) and while I admit I have not tried the ones you mention I love it. It’s solid, easy to use with my “non-trigger” hand and very fast IMHO.

I have tried the stock CH, the PRI big-latch, and the BCM Gunfighter. The Gunfighter is hands-down my favorite. It seems to do a much better job of distributing the forces throughout the CH. In other words, I find that racking the CH is smoothest w/ my Gunfighter.

W/ respect to the name, who cares. It can be called BCM Shit-On-A-Stick and I’ll still rock it if it works well.

i just ordered the medium latch today! i had a badger tactical latch and after some casual use at the range, the rollpin was beginning to fatigue and the latch pushed into the handle body…what a POS!

after reading the design specs and reason for improvements, it pretty much sold me:mad:

Could have typed the above myself. +1

I broke my original one and upgraded to a mod 4. It was well worth the money IMHO. It’s feels way more solid… Plus, I like to “charge” with one finger on the left side instead of two fingers on both sides of the charging handle.

There’s no torque on the chargin handle when charging it one handed. The latch stays slightly angled forward so it catches your hand with almost no chance of slipping off even under less than ideal conditions.

I used regular latches for years as well as the Gas Buster. I’ve never slipped off of those either, but they torqued quite a bit.

Thats what happened to mine. The roll pin snapped.

I first got the Gunfighter cause I liked the latch, I read up on it afterwards.

Its the only one Ill use now.

In the sitting or prone position, “Palming” it is a breeze.

Anyone pinched the shit out of their hand with it? Lol

User error?

I was not interested in one but got one when I had gift certificate to Midway.

I have the mod 4. My first impression was that it is how the AR CH should have been designed originally. The original design feels awkward now when I pick up another rifle.

I have used a badger tac latch before. Comparing it to a gunfighter well the badger felt like a limp noodle compared to a gunfighter. By that I mean the latching mechanism is vastly improved compared to a Tac Latch, Trying is believing.

I’ve never used one until I got a KAC SR15 in a trade. The original owner added the MOD 4 Gunfighter to it.

Running the gun with that latch seemed natural. There was no slip. Positive function and I never missed a grab.

To me, the Gunfighter charging handle is what the charging handle SHOULD HAVE BEEN in the beginning.

I also feel that the MOD 4 gives just enough real estate to get a full grip without risking snagging on your kit (If you use kit). I’ve recently had the chance to run the MOD 3&5. I felt the 3 was too small and the 5 (While giving more positive real estate) was too large and liked to grab kit.

I have a question for the SBR guys:

For those of you that do use them on your SBRs, have you noticed any difference in regulating the gas coming back into your face?

Use one for 5 minutes and we won’t need to “sell” ya.

Plus, I like to “charge” with one finger on the left side instead of two fingers on both sides of the charging handle.

Same here. It is ideal for that. Its lots quicker, and can be done easily when the rifle is in the low ready position, or ready position.

Sturdy as a mutha too.

Because you can’t buy unobtanium roll pins.

The PRI M84’s are good charging handles, and the stock ones will get the job done - I wouldn’t prioritize getting a GFCH over ammunition or training budget, but they simply are the best charging handle available, because of the slew of minor improvements listed above, and the price when factored into a complete fighting rifle is very good.

Sell you? Can’t really sell you on it buddy, I can only tell you that its the best charging handle on the market, I’ve spent close to $400 on Mediums now that I think about it…

No.
