Sell a Nightforce NXS 1-4x24 for a Schmidt & Bender 1.1-4x24 PM2 Zenith S.D. LE?

I was looking for an all-purpose optic for my 16" Larue Stealth.

I originally considered an ACOG, but I don’t like the eye relief or having to use the Doctor sight for close range.

I also considered either an Aimpoint or Eotech with a 3x magnifier, but I don’t like having the magnifier hanging off the side for close range.

I finally decided on a 1-4x variable optic, and I was sold on the Nightforce NXS 1-4x24mm Zero Stop with 1/10 Mil Adjustments and the illuminated Mil-Dot Close range reticle.

The only problem with the Nightforce is that it’s hard to see the illuminated reticle in daylight. From pictures it appears the red dot in the S&B 1.1–4x24 PM2 Zenith Short Dot LE is bright even during daylight.

Aside from the illumination issue, is the Nightforce comparable to the S&B? Or is the S&B really worth the $1,000 more? Has anyone else ended up going with the S&B over a Nightforce? Was it worth it? :confused:

As I suggested on another thread, check out the Vortex Viper PST 1-4 which I believe is mil/mil and illuminated. The quality is excellent according to the post-Shot Show reviews. The street price is $499 but you have to wait until late March to May unfortunately. That way you will know if you like the 1-4 optic.

If you can’t wait look at their 1-4 HD model which is around $1200.
