Selecting "Priority" Metal Detecting Locations?

I’m new to metal detecting and have access to a sizable chunk of land. I will have basically two days to try and hit the “best” places. I know where homesteads and a school were way back when. I plan on going to them first.

My question is about the rest of the area. The terrain varies quite a bit. Hills, valleys, creeks, ponds, farm land, grazing pastures, wooded areas, rocky patches, etc.

I understand that it’s luck of the draw but would a person be better served starting up high or down low? I planned on starting low in the creek beds and valleys but then realized that I don’t really know what I’m doing.

Still learning my detector but am already bypassing some trash. Any suggestions?

Lower sounds reasonable since stuff tends to wash downhill in rain. If there were fish that could be caught, creek and pond banks may be where stuff was dropped.

Not sure on creek beds. While stuff is constantly washing in, stuff is constantly getting swept downstream too.

And zero clue on legalities. Private land I assume no problem, but water ways could be funky.
