I have been doing my first pistol build with pocket change for the past year. Now I’m at an impasse. I can’t decide what to do about the BCG, buffer, recoil spring.
Here is the basics of the build
Seekins sp223 upper and lower, 11.5 LW carbine gas BCM barrel with pinned .625 FSB, Noveske KX5, and SB15 brace.
Here’s parts I have on the shelf:
Springco carbine spring, carbine buffer, ST-T2 buffer, BCM extractor upgrade kit.
have a couple voodoo low mass bcg I picked up for another build and backup. Would this be too light to run in this build? Would I need a heavier buffer? extra power spring?
So If anyone has some recommended combos please feel free to share. I would prefer to run a bcg I have, or at least a melonite BCG of different brand, I live in the rust belt.
Also this may help, I usually run Surplus, Hornady tap & zmax ammo. No wolf or Pmc.
If you haven’t already spent money on the Seeking stuff, really consider going with easier to source forged stuff. That frees up budget space for easy button top quality answers for the rest: BCM BCG, H-2 Buffer (this should run with your carbine spring just fine), and if you need a light buffer the CAR one can fill in (if running underpowered stuff).
There are plenty of good answers as far as how to maintain and keep rust off an AR - I kept mine in Hawaii yards from the beach for years, and nothing I did cost much extra money, just some of my time every month.
Oh I’m sorry I typed up the post while on lunch break in a rush. I should have explained it better. I didn’t mean money was an issue. Just been using some of my play money on it. I have too many hobbies and serveral AR’s so I wasn’t knuckling down on a fast build.
I already have everything assembled except the recoil system and bcg. I know enough, to know I don’t know enough about the pistols.
I’ve read you are better off with full weight bcg and H2 buffers. I am just trying to find out if there is a buffer and spring combo that will work fine with these low mass bolts.
I prefer the nitride parts as they are more corrosion resistance that parkerizing, in MY experience. My LE6920 barrel will back me up lol.
