Have burned up the search tool to no avail so far. Was hoping someone might take pity and offer some wisdom.
Am about to embark on my first DIY duracoat job. The info gleaned from this site has been a wealth but I can’t find any TTP’s on the best way to sufficiently coat the inside of a quad rail (mine is a Seekins SAR) without excessively coating the exterior or open gaps. I’ve saved forever to do this build with quality components and really don’t want to have to media blast anything after I’ve dorked up my duracoat job.

Media blast as part of the prep work. I use 120 grit alum oxide. You will get much better coating adheasion. The main trick is patience and rubber gloves. Once the surface is cleaned and prepped never touch it with bare skin. Even the oil from a finger print can cause imperfections in your finish. I use an airbrush and coat the inside first from the exterior openings and work my way out.
Another thing is invest in quality protective gear. These coatings are nothing you want to inhale or leave on exposed skin! A quality respirator, eye protection, gloves, long sleeve shirt, pants, and good ventilation are a must. DuraCoat isnt as bad as CeraKote or GunKote but the MSDS sheet still reads like the black plauge of cancer cocktails.
You could always send just the quad rail to be finished to a place like alternative firearm coatings. The cost would be pretty reasonable for single parts. If its a skill you are wishing to master or the pride of doing it yourself this really wouldn’t apply.
