I recently started working on my second build. For my first build I used a Del-Ton A2 rifle kit. I have a family photo of it below along with my Romanian AK build and my Mosin Nagant M38.
For this build I wanted to pick the components. Below is a photo of the mostly DPMS lower that I just finished. The only part not DPMS is the Magpul trigger guard. I just ordered a M4 flattop upper and a BCMGunfighter charging handle from Bravo Company and I’m looking to add a 16" M4 SOCOM barrel, also from Bravo Company. I’ll order a few parts each week as money becomes available and then assemble the upper.

I had 3 MNs at one time, but sold two and kept the best. This one was made in 1943 in the middle of WWII. Considering what Russia was going through back then, they really built those rifles to last.

Well if you hang around here for a while you won’t find a lot of fans of Delton, myself included. They just don’t have a good reputation as being professional grade. As a range toy or use as the occasional plinker they seem to work fine but you will eventually find that BCM is the superior product.
My Del-Ton feeds fine, but my eyes aren’t the best and with the A2 sights I’m lucky to get 6" group at 100 yards. I tried mounting a scope on it using a Colt mount, but it was a bit awkward. That’s the biggest reason for me wanting to get a flattop. I was able to do more research this time and with the experience of building the Del-Ton I hope I’m better able to choose what parts I’ll want to use. Although it’s still a learning process and I already feel I’ll want a better trigger than the standard DPMS. My upper will be mostly BCM parts.
