Seattle Bill could “Legalize” Crime for Those in Poverty or With Mental Illness

“In what can only be described as turning morality on its head, a Seattle council member has introduced legislation that could allow courts to dismiss misdemeanor crimes, such as theft and assault, that were committed because of poverty or while a person was experiencing symptoms of a mental illness or substance abuse, reports the Seattle Times.”

I’m pretty sure they’ve lost the fight.

I hope they get everything they are asking for!

Crime is already legal for billionaires; why not give po’ folk the same courtesy?

Are they including language making assault on themselves and cronies a felony? There has to be a few pissed off/newly impoverished people in Seattle.

Not that it will matter.

Prosecutors are already not charging people for lots of crimes.

There was a bill put forth in Texas, doomed to fail miserably but nonetheless, which would make it illegal for a person to defend themselves in their homes, and would require full cooperation and obedience to all home invaders and armed robbers. If the robber still attacks, the victim can only defend themselves in a way that causes no injury, or they will be face charges if the robber is injured. It won’t pass in Texas, but Washington, Oregon, California? Who knows?

More or less the same thing already occurred in Albuquerque. Catch and release for non-violent crime is the order of the day. Non-violent has a pretty liberal interpretation, too. Dudes on parole for shoplifting, stealing cars, what ever, can be caught in the act and nothing happens. And with orders to not respond to non-violent crimes, crime stats are legitimately down. That doesn’t mean it is safe. Can’t stop crime? Just reclassify what constitutes a crime and voila things look better on paper. I’ve been out of the down town area about 2 years now, and completely out of New Mexico one year. Albuquerque looks worse every time I go back to take care of business.

Phoenix same. My nephew and a few old friends live there, but apart from Scottsdale, it’s a slum.

Seattle is one of the world’s largest free-range lunatic asylums. It needs to be walled off from the rest of the world for their protection and ours…

Whomever wrote this bill should have to experience it first hand

I bet I know which “actual communist and I mean a known member of a marxist / socialist political group” city council member introduced that BS.

Sad…Seattle was a really cool city once upon a time.

Sadly, that describes most of the Shitty Clowncil…

So if I move to Seattle with nothing…I can take shit, break shit and jack up people at whim?

I can only wish city council members and government aren’t exempt. They pass that law and it could be adult disneyland.

That’s what I would bet on.

Seattle has successfully thrown itself away. The rest of us are under no obligation to pull them back out of the trash.

“Escape from The Left Coast 2025” starring Kurt Russel, Sylvester Stallone, Liam Neeson, Denzel Washington, Steven Seagal, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Harrison Ford, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Danny Trejo, Dolph Lundgren, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Produced by Mel Gibson and Directed by Clint Eastwood.

I hope at least one of them does some sort of action adventure movie set in a nursing home.

Cool thing on Trejo.

Watched him give another interview on that and the reporter(think it was Shepherd Smith) was giving a spiel insinuating it was Trejo only, but Trejo interrupted him and told him what all the big guy, the girl, firemen, and some others did.

I think Seattle should legalize all crime and fire all law enforcement.

There you go…put some real muscle behind the great social experiment. The Seattle gov’t officials should then complete the flight into utopia by firing themselves. The idea of all the peace and love gives me goose bumps!
