Screws on KAC URX3.1

I have read once where scews on the urx 3.1 stripped while trying to take them off. I took mine off for the first time (pretty tight) to install the bottom rail panel and installed the screws back. i tightened them up with a hex wrench until they stopped and put a good snug pull on them to finish it. (Not with all my force) Just wondering if that should be ok. The screws look like it would be pretty hard to strip them out but want to make sure. Pretty sure if they strip while unscrewing, someone would either have a hella time getting it out or have to buy a whole new rail.

I’m sure you’re fine. I would use Loctite and just snug them up. It prevents them from being tightened too much and from backing out.

But, if they do strip, it’s an easy fix with a heli-coil.

I would think it would be nearly impossible to get the screw out once the head of it is stripped out though.

I’ve taken mine off tons of times and have had no issues. I also don’t over tighten things either. Don’t be a hulk and you’ll be fine.

I’ve never had a single issue taking the screws out of the 3 URX 3.0 rails I’ve owned.

I remove them just like any other screw and install them like I would any other one. I snug them up but don’t go caveman on them. I don’t use thread locker either. Never saw the need to do it.

The only screws I’ve ever had back out on me on a rail were the screws that come on my DD RIS II rails. I actually torque those screws down to 20" pounds after removing them.
