IIRC that was an agreement between states, thus irrelevant.
ding ding ding ding Jackpot!!!
Hey, if they don’t believe you, they can just ask Justice Sybil.
Its completely relevant in that there is no agreement on CCW.
It is a total pipe dream to think the liberal courts would apply this to CCW. But, feel free to carry in a non-CCW state and after your trial if caught, please update this thread.
Let me get this right before I continue…
You were saying that reciprocity exists for license plates, but that didn’t help CCW reciprocity. Therefore, this SCOTUS ruling won’t help CCW reciprocity.
Correct?
Also, it’s a good position to be in the “nay sayer” camp regarding new positive gun legislation. You can always say “I told you so!” if you’re right and “well I’m pleasantly surprised and glad to be wrong!” if you’re wrong. We should all just be negative and never work towards better laws - we will guaranteed feel better about ourselves.
Or, you know, you can try to be realistic and fight the battles you have a pretty good chance of winning, and not backing everything just cause there’s the off chance that it could work.
Just a thought.
The irony is not lost on me that our ‘group’ is among the most outspoken against gay marriage and now you all want to ride their coat tails to better your own position in spite of your addimate outcries AGAINST them having freedom? I’ve been saying for years now that their attempts to gain freedoms aren’t far from our attempts to gain freedom and the best thing we could do would be to join forces in the name of Liberty & freedom and instead we lean on ignorance and do everything in our power to alienate them and fight their efforts to gain freedom. This is pathetic and now that they’ve gained their freedom at the federal level through proper channels and decades of strife you want to stroke a pen and get our freedoms on the backs of those who hate us as a community? Wow. Just wow.
Decades of strife compared to…
2nd Amendment was written when?
We don’t have to hold hands with them do we? I really don’t want to hold hands.
If you want to march with these fruit loops be my guest. I’ve got your back…way back over.

While I completely agree with the basic premise of your post, the 2A fight has been around since the 1930’s. We’ve endured decades of infringements and attacks as well. As for whose coattails we’re willing to ride? Utterly irrelevant.
Politics. The facts changed, so we change our position. That’s the new America. You get lemons, make lemonade.
The fact that they find the right to gay marriage in the Constitution when the leftists can’t seem to find any protections for the 2A beyond some theoretical right- that is enough reason for me to take any kind of legal rationale we can get and run with it.

Is your premise that the first gay couple who wanted to get married didn’t occur until after this date? Seems kind of silly to me if that’s your premise.
Nope. Don’t have to at all. Just like before this previous mid-term when there was a rather large group of environmentalists against governor Hickenlooper here in the state of Colorado and I suggested on local firearm forums that joining forces in a focused effort to get that freedom hater out of office I was met with rather staunch and ignorant responses that served zero purpose to our side of the fight. Just like here. I’ve been for gay marriage and legalization of pot for many years now and I’m not gay nor have I ever even tried smoking pot. Bottom line: freedom is freedom and if it doesn’t hurt anyone else why shouldn’t we be for freedom in America? The problem is that we’ve come too far from the ‘freedom for everyone’ group that founded this nation and are now a bunch of ‘what’s in it for me?’ selfish pussies. What ever happened to fighting for what was right just because it was right even if you personally didn’t directly benefit from it? Seems that our pro-2A cause could use a few people like that… wouldn’t you agree?

My wife marched in the Pride Parade in Denver last year and if I didn’t already have plans for a 3-gun which had me out-of-state I would have been there with her. You can post up pics of flamboyant fruit loops like that fella but how do you feel whenever someone posts up a pro-2A nut job to paint a broad stroke of the entire community?
Is it? I guess I misread the title of this thread then. Help me with your take on what was meant because I’m obviously WAY off base in my interpretation:
“SCOTUS ruling on Gay marriage = national reciprocity?”
Simple: They became a sympathetic base. Why deny human rights to people who are normal and could easily be someone you know and either love or are friends with? As a pro-2A community we seem hell bent on alienating every group and individual we can and making them loathe us as a group and then wonder why we can’t get anywhere but backwards. It’s time we as a group swallowed a little bit of pride and tried to invoke a little more compassion towards our fellow man in an effort to humanize our efforts because all we’ve done lately is the opposite.
That’s as representative of gay people as this is to gun owners:

That so many can’t see that/figure that out is one of many reasons we’re in this situation, and I was hoping such attitudes/comments could be kept in the thread where it’s being discussed, which I un subscribed from due to such comments knowing the thread would change no minds either way.
End of the day, you either believe in Freedom and Liberty for all, or you do not, regardless of whether or not you agree with their life choices. Dude wants to let his freak flag fly and look like a complete idiot, that’s his business, and I fully support his Right (capital R) to do it, nor would I support denial of his Basic Human Rights/Const Rights due to it. Idiocy, bad taste, etc, is not a reason to deny Cont. Rights.
So, OP is about could this ruling set the foundation for national CCW or not? The “other stuff” can be posted here:
If you read my post you will notice I never commented on gays getting married. Only “joining forces” with them. You may be correct in that that guy doesn’t rep the gay population, but a quick google fu of “gay pride parade” turns up thousands and thousands of similar (and way worse) pictures from all over the world. So it may not represent all but considering the estimates put the gay population at 3% I have to extrapolate that a decent amount really get into their parades.
OK, I understand now. You are under the mistaken impression that gay marriage is about letting gays marry- a common and easily assumed misunderstanding. I don’t care about gays marrying. Straight people have done more to ruin marriage than any and all gays ever could hope of doing.
‘Gay Marriage’ is about demonizing and marginalizing conservative and religious viewpoints. What we see going on with the Confederate flag is eventually going to happen with Christian sects that don’t eventually allow religious gay marriage. You can disagree with me, call me a bigot, say I’m crazy- but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m right.
You obviously have someone close to you that is affected by this. I’m happy that they are now able to marry- I hope they have a long and happy marriage, unlike a lot of straight married people ![]()
People really need to realize that there is a difference between gays marrying and gay marriage which is the start of the mainstreaming of the LGBTQIAXYZ agenda and the change from Freedom of Religion to the freedom from religion. We’ve gone from religion dictating morality through laws, to laws outlawing morality and forcing upon us what used to be called immorality.
I actually don’t have anyone close to me who wants to get gay married anymore than I keep close friends who get high all the time and were getting rap sheets as a result. I just think the government has zero business in telling you can’t do either one. The basic premise is just silly and NOT what our government was formed around.
The idea that this decision is somehow demonizing & marginalizing conservative & religious viewpoints smacks of self indulgence when the reality is they couldn’t care less about your religious viewpoints so long as it doesn’t prevent them from being able to do something that you do freely and openly. The very fact that it was made illegal at the state levels based on what the bible says is the very separation of church and state that most people speak of when they don’t realize it was undoing a violation of that separation that was put into place. The government should never have been in the marriage business let alone saying who could and couldn’t get married. This SCOTUS decision merely recognized that state’s rulings were a violation of citizens rights to get married based on an arbitrary reason since they’re not supposed to be in the business of religion.
The bottom line is that the people who are anti-gay marriage are on the wrong side of history and will be looked at as ignorant bigots much in the same way that those were were pro-slavery or anti-interracial marriage, etc. I don’t have to personally approve of each one but it’s not my place to desire laws that say they can’t. From a basis of freedom that’s what’s right. Much like free people should be able to keep and enjoy firearms even if I didn’t personally support it.
These two topics aren’t as far apart as those who are anti-gays want you to think to justify their stance.
Some of the posters here are delusional in thinking that the Supreme Courts SSM ruling will somehow cause Concealed Carry reciprocity. Although I do see some of the logic behind the thought we have to remember that the leftists do not operate in the spheres of logic. Emotion and Ideology is what drives them.
End of the day, the leftists and big government statists along with their victim group allies (useful idiots) such as homosexuals, feminists, illegal immigrate groups, etc… hate traditional American culture. They hate second amendment supporters, constitutionalists, true Christians, self-reliant people, and anyone else who is against their sick narrative.
Leftists are going to keep pushing against both the constitution and any remaining frameworks of decency left in America. Its time for Americans who believe in traditional values to start getting tough and push back!
Of course that’s not representative of gun owners, no one in their right mind likes grip pods!
That’s funny. The left says the same thing about the right.
So aside from violence, how do we push back? The majority of the country spoke their mind this last mid-term, but that doesn’t matter. All politicians are career criminals. Protest? We actually work so we can’t just sit outside the capitol waving flags and chanting stupid slogans because SOMEBODY has to pay to keep the lights on… We speak by letting our opinions be known through social media? Prepare for death threats, blacklisting of your business, etc.
Sorry to say it, but there isn’t really a peaceful option for conservatives to let their voice be heard anymore.
