Scope recommendation...

Hi Everyone,

I’ve got a light weight 16" bcm upper with a magpul rear site using the fsb in the front. I had a T1 on it that was fine, but I’ve been wanting to try something magnified but not a magnifier. I shoot primarily at 50Y or 100Y, but wouldn’t mind trying a little further out.

My criteria (and I’m not sure I know what I want) is:

  1. Not a huge scope.
  2. Doesn’t need to be a variable.
  3. The less expensive but still workable quality the better.
  4. Doesn’t need to be illuminated.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

Thanks,

Alan

Good starter to try to see if you like a scope without spending a ton of money. You can get a hundred opinions and everyone is going to be different. Good luck. David

That weaver 1-3 is way under priced for what you are getting for the money.

I have one on my pig gun…

What do you want to do with it (target, distance, precision requirements) and what is your budget?

If fixed is fine, I might suggest the burris 332

Hi,

Thanks guys - I found that Weaver 1-3x20 yesterday after some web searching. It definitely looks like the price range and what I’m thinking about. What type of scope mount do you guys recommend? I’ve noticed there is a PEPR or Nikon mounts. I like the smooth top of the Nikon mounts better - does anyone have experience with them or something else quality but reasonably priced to recommend?

Purpose will be 100Y or less range recreation…

I’d like to mount as low as possible, but not so low that the FSB is a problem. I understand I’m going to see it especially at the 1x, but I’d like it to not be visible as 3x. Also it would nice to keep the mbus mounted as well.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi,

I’m having a hard time deciding between the Weaver V3 and a TAC30. Most of the time I will be shooting @ 50Y at the range with it.

In my mind:

Weaver V3 pros:
Smaller and lighter.
I might like the reticle better, but admittedly I’m just not familiar with the TAC30 recticle.

TAC30 pros:
4x instead of 3x.
has illumination.
tougher?
better resale value?

The TAC30 is about $90 more. by time I look at shipping, mount, etc.

Sell me on a direction!!

Thanks,

Alan
