Got a call from a friend this morning, he picked up an AR-50 at a gunshow today. Asked him if he had an optic for it, said no, asked me to research them for him.
So, what are the better picks of the lower cost scopes? I know a lot of people recommend “Tasco Super Sniper” through SWFA but the word Tasco makes my skin crawl.
I’ve already sent the recommendation for a LaRue .50 cal scope mount, now I need to tell him what scopes to check out. I told him don’t be suprised if the scopes cost at least $700, but I do believe it is going to be a pretty penny over that. I’ve seen recommendations to look for something in the 10 power range for starters, I don’t know where else to go from there (although I’ve heard Leupold Mark IV and Nightforce NXS being recommended). I just want to get him something servicable and at a not too bad price…and not ripped off. He, unfortunatly, does not get the best deals…
