Does anyone own and have further information on these lowers as to their quality, strength? Any more info about the company Schreyer Weapon Systems?
I really like lowers with large, flared-magwells and this one looks nice (though I still prefer the Noveske FFL).
It’s a billet. I wouldnt even consider it with the Noveske FFL around.
FWIW, I built a rifle with this lower this past spring and routinely shoot 5/8" 5 shot groups using Black Hills (Red Box) Ammunition… Seems to be doing the trick.
WTF does that have to do with the lower???
Wondering the same thing.
Doesn’t bring enough to the table to demand that $$$. No excitement, no new tech, etc… It’s a formation straight out of the old playbooks.
For $319 it’s gotta be great!
Well when I posted this thread I was considering picking in up because of the impending doom of a gun ban. I am glad now I didn’t buy one.
I should add that I am glad simply because there are better lowers out there for less money, which I was able to find. Not because I know of problems with these lowers.
He asked (all be it, months ago) about this lower, I happened to be building a rifle and used ‘this lower’ in the build, and simply stated what kind of accuracy I was achieving with this rifle.
Could I have used another brand of lower for this build? Certainly. Would the rifle preform any differently? Probably not. I simply made the comment which lower I used in this build and the results I experienced shooting it…
My Noveske matched upper and lower cost me $275. There are better options.
So you are stating that you DO have experience with this lower, and through your experience have determined there are better lowers out there for less money…
No experience. But how are you going to argue that a Noveske forged, flared magwel lower for $245 isn’t a better lower for less money than a billet upper from some never-heard-of-before-machineshop for over $300? The attraction at the time was availability.
I am glad the one you have is serving you well; and I am glad I found a Noveske for less.
So exactly where did I ever say one was better than the other?!? It just happened to be the lower I chose for this build. FWIW, I actually payed just under $200 for this lower, and the fact that it is manufactured in St. Paul, MN was only plus for me, it nice to be able to support a local company since I live in a suburb south of the company. (I have a friend that was able to hook me up with this lower for significantly less than retail price). Glad your happy with your Noveske!
The simple fact that it’s forged over billet. Naturally, for someone looking to start a build, most folks here would recommend forged over billet. Objectivity is the key, not emotional-over-rationalization of one’s purchase. No one ever faulted you for your choice. Rather, it was the fact that you somehow attributed accuracy to your lower which has absolutely nothing to do with it.
I selected this particular lower because I was able to support a local company (as well as save some money in the process). I never made a DIRECT correlation between this lower and it’s ability to shoot accurately. I will go on record with the opinion that this rifle attains a certain level of accuracy more directly due to the barrel I chose to use which happened to be a SS match grade Lothar Walther, and to a slightly lesser degree a Noveske/Vltor MUR-1A upper and a Geissele hi-speed match trigger among the other components.
