Im kinda looking into a tactical patrol rifle. Ive been reading on here for a few days and did a couple of searches and couldnt find what im looking for so i figured i would consult the professionals and see what you guys think. Ive been reading that terrorist are likely to begin targeting colleges and schools for attacks. I doubt that any of our schools around shreveport will be of any intrest because there are no reasonably intelligent students there so if the terrorist want to make a statement they need to go elsewhere. However, in the event that they screw up as they sometimes do this is what im lookng for to handle there a$$. So heres what im looking for:
A rifle that is good for residential and commercial building searches
A great light for medium to close range searches
A great laser preferably green
An excellent scope that is deadly accurate up to 150 yards
A great single point sling
I basically am looking for a lot of help because im pretty ignorant when it comes to the AR-15 .223cal. however i know what i am looking for. Anyone that can help me would be greatly appreciated. I just dont want to be faced with a situation like this that i cant handle because i dont have the firepower to handle it.
buy a basic rifle (colt 6920, daniel defese m4, BCM, etc) with irons and shoot it for a bit, then buy an aimpoint T1 and shoot it some more.
are you gonna be putting your gun in a patrol car? if so, attaching a light might be tricky due to the rack. officers i know use the surefire m500.
nothing can be said about the best equipment in the world if the end user is lacking (not saying you are but saying that a lot of people skimp on training and buy the newest, shiny toy).
So your going to run to your car when there’s a school shooting? Then, instead of driving to safety, your going to go back and try to resolve the situation? Am I missing something?
Look man, do what you want, but personally I’d pick up a concealable Glock or XD and get a permit to carry it. A tactical carbine is a great tool, but it’s only useful if you have it with you…
That may be true. However, in this context I believe that this person is talking about having a rifle or carbine “ready” to use in the event of some type of active shooter situation. Unless he is an LEO, he will basically be going “vigilante” in which case he better be damn sure of what he is shooting (especially at 150 yds.) or there will be some serious issues upcoming.
I personally am failing to see what the exact point of this thread is.
