Has anybody done that yet? I really don’t like the stock unit, but can’t find a wrench that would fit into grip’s screw.
Comes off same was as a standard AR grip, no spring or detent to worry about. The screw threads into a square nut that will fall out once you pull the A2 grip off, dont lose that. I spent about an hour or so reshaping a Magpul MOE grip and filing my lower to get it to fit, not perfect but close enough…

This is ancient, but I initially had this same problem. I had resigned myself to going to Home Depot to find something as the one allen wrench I had that was the right size (3/16) wouldn’t fit inside due to the end of the wrench. Then in a flash of brilliance (or something) I realized my Ryobi electric drill and Stanley bits (just a crappy 32 piece one) had a 3/16 inch hex head and with the extender was long enough to fit inside. Voila!
I filed down the tang on the lower receiver by hand using the file on my Leathernan Squirt PS4 (Don’t have a dremel and couldn’t find anything better at that moment). Wasn’t actually that difficult, though there is still a very small gap. I might get the last 1/16 off, but I’ll probably be too lazy and it is nearly flush.
