I picked up G-triggers for my SCAR17S and TAR21 while Bill was having his 4th of July sale. I will be heading to the range today to see if they improve my accuracy, although I’m not expecting miracles. I am the limiting factor and neither of these rifles are capable of shooting sub MOA groups on a consistent basis.
Installation of the TAR21 trigger pack was literally 15 seconds. I did not purchase the new trigger, just the pack. Has anyone here also purchased the actual trigger? Does it make a huge difference or is it just a profile change?
Dry firing the rifle last night showed the trigger pull is very much improved, as you would expect, although not as dramatic as the SCAR improvement.
The SCAR installation was a bit more complex, only a bit more difficult than an AR15. I lost the damned safety detent spring on the floor and found it after about 15 minutes of searching and cursing. Dry firing shows it appears to be very SSA like, I wish it were a bit more SSA-E, but it is a dramatic improvement over the utterly crap-tastic stock SCAR trigger.
Will post back to this thread, if I am able to shoot any halfway decent groups today at the range.
Nothing remarkable here, but am posting anyway. These groups are from the SCAR, I won’t bother to post any of the TAR21 groups because they are just as unremarkable. I think I need more time behind both rifles with the new triggers. This same batch of cartridges yielded far better results in previous range sessions, so either I was off or I am still adjusting to the better triggers. I expected better. Neither of these rifles are typically match grade shooters.
Both rifles failed to lock back on the last round a couple of times. Other than that there were no other malf’s.
That’s about right out of the Tavor. It is a general service weapon and until somebody develops a match or heavy barrel that’s about all you can expect from it. The “G” trigger groups are pretty good though and while they don’t really improve accuracy right away if you’re good on the trigger, they do save operator fatigue and make the weapon more enjoyable to shoot.
