SCAR 17S optics?

IIRC, there were some issues with some optics on the SCAR H. Thinking about getting one, and need info on which scopes are gtg on it, mainly dot scopes & low power variables. Thanks for your help!

Some info here on the subject.

Common consensus seems to be most military-style optics are good to go. I’ve run an ACOG on my SCAR for years, and the first problem I had was when the mounting screws loosened up this past weekend.

I’m told they eat EoTechs for breakfast, but anything that is built for duty use should hold other than that.

Eotechs seem to die quick also

I’ve heard of EOTechs running fine on 17S, but don’t have any first hand experience. I ran an older EOTech on my 16S for years without a problem.

I ran a Aimpoint CompM4s for a while with no problems (after all, its Aimpoint!).

I’m current running a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44, but that was just for deer season and I have not bothered to take it off yet. It was a spare scope that was formerly on a Remington 700. Only a measly 100 rounds or so with the Zeiss on the SCAR 17 so its hardly worth even calling it a test, but its been solid.

Leupold VX-6 on a Scar 17 for a while. Not one problem.

~600 rounds though mine with VCOG. I also have an RMR on there that seems fine.

my 2 cents on the matter

#1 buy optics right the first time, look at the return policy and guarantee. Leupold and Vortex have never ever had issues with returns in my history.

#2 what are you going to do with the gun? 3 gun? Leupold mk.6 1x6 (CMR-W) or Vortex razor HD II 1-6. King Kong CQC platform then a t1 or H1. If your going for SSR platform then NF 5-22, Voretx 4.5-27, Luepold Mk.4, on and on and on.

-spend right on optics the first time

#3 the history of the SCAR and optics comes from the mk.17 eating SOPMOD optics, NVGs, thermals etc. SOPMOD Block weapon accessories listing have ones that are listed as hardened for CAR-H (SCAR MK17) use. Understand a FA Mk.17 is going to punish things mounted to them (just like a HK417). The probability of you doing the same is very low.

NightForce, Leupold, Trijicon, and Aimpoint, in my experience have been fine.
