Dealer just got one in and called me.
When to get it at closing time last night and he didn’t have a price yet…we will see.
nice that it comes in a real case this time, and not a cardboard box
purty!
It’ll be interesting to see the price. I’ve seen them on GB going for $3500 to 4K. Here’s a current one:

Has anyone found a source for mags?
Only the first batch has “free’” cases, it has two mags.
One black and one tan
Case and certificate
Someone on FN forum was trying with a altered FAL mag and reported it looks to be functioning
I will be back by in a minute and try to get a price
If I don’t get robbed I will buy it…
Fn just returned my call; they have no plans to sell SSR version in the next year at least.
They said that within a month more 17s will be out. Only 125 of the “certificate” version with a case and two mags.
We will never see barrells from FN, violates 922r
Dealer said he thinks he can get $3600-$4000; I guess he looked on GB.
I almost think I would like black better anyway. That’s what my 16s is.
The gun is still mismatched like crazy as far a colors.
The pics always make it look like a nice even tan color…
I saw a Scar16, or 5.56 version at Sportsmans the other day and it was about five different colors of Olive drab, tan, Fiolage…I like black guns, no pun intended, but this one looked really cool.
I am sure this subject has been beating to death, but what is the downside or upside to the Scar 16 or 17 platforms?
I shoot the 16s and have really enjoyed it.
Ran it thru a 3 gun this weekend and did a few classes with it earlier in the year.
I like the ambi controls, the location is of the controls fits me well
Recoil is soft, accurate; follow up shots are fast. I like being able to raise the cheek pad without having to worry about CH interference. I like the charging handle location. I haven’t had issues with it interfering with optics.
I run a T1, and have tinkered with a 1.1-4 IOR, but don’t have much trigger time with it. I like the weight balance, and its light.
I had it and two Colts and a few other ARs and variants (sig 556). I sold them all except one Colt and kept the SCAR
I will get a 17s, then have two calibers in identical platforms.
That’s my take, but others will differ (of course we are on M4 forum talking about SCARs)
Whats the design purpose of the folding stock? Vehicle? Airborne?
I believe it’s for vehicles. Have you tried maneuvering an M4 carbine in a vehicle? It’s not easy.
I passed on the gun, its on GB now “Backwater guns”
Nice folks, they just hope to get good money off it.
These gun shop folks all have in the back of their mind, if not the front of their mind the fear that their place of business might be a hair and nail salon in a year or two. With the sort of political uncertainty there is I can’t blame them for wanting to make money while they can. Wonderful for us, the politics seems to have broken our way over the last year and a half. And that will probably not change in the near future. Nevertheless, business people are plagued with uncertainty.
This is the second one I’ve seen. So the case is a limited thing?
FN told me the first 125 get a certificate saying these are the initial batch, two mags and a hard case
Because they can, and it adds Cool Guy points!
Or Mall Ninja points :haha:
Any range reports?
I passed on it, I am going to hold till the prices stabilize.
I bought a 16s when the black ones first came out, paid a little bit more for getting one early…now they have come down some in price.
He wanted $3600 for it, which isn’t off the charts (depends on how you look at it)
But I am not in a rush presently.
Can’t decide if I want it or a nice 3 gun shotgun first
theres several on gunbroker now, expensive tho
I handled one of these at a gun show yesterday, overall I was impressed. Mostly by the fact that is was so light in weight. I was underwhelmed by the stock though, lock didn’t seem too great and the cheek adjustment felt flimsy. I’m not afraid to swing my UMP stock open to lock it, not sure I’d do that on the SCAR. Ergonomics felt good.
The H and the light were the only two weapons at that vendor without a price, so that told me enough not to ask.
