SCAR 17S and range report

Just wanted to share the performance of my SCAR17S so far.

Everything’s stock with the addition of a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x 50mm with NPR1 reticle.

Ammo used was Black Hills 175gr HPBT.

I’m not awesome at bench rest shooting, but the tightest group I was able to achieve at 100 yards was 1.04in. The average was anywhere from 1.25in to 1.63in. I should note that a couple groups were as big as 4.12in.

Nice rifle. Let us know how it does with other brands of ammo. BTW, 5-10 round groups will give you a little better idea of its potential.

True, thanks. The best group of the day was a 5 round. I’ll have to get back out to the range and try again.

Doesn’t look bad, a few more rounds and I am sure those groups will get tighter as you get used to the rifle. Match ammo will help too…

I have a SCAR-L and fired about a hundred rounds through a friend’s H. IMHO, the best way to quickly improve the platform’s accuracy is to replace the trigger. I’ve heard good preliminary reports about the Geissele offering. Do you have a spare $400?

It also helps to not have any expectation of receiving the trigger any time soon. I put in an order through VA Arms at the end of April, and it’s still nowhere to be seen. I’m told they’re only made in limited batches (probably part of the reason for the cost).

nice boomstick
Thanks for the report.

I wish someone would talk me out of buying a scar17, it haunts my dreams.
