Something I’ve been thinking (drooling) about since this became available is what would make this an absolute awesome combo is having a 12" upper (or in that range) to go with it.
How’d this work though, getting it registered as an SBR - would there be any issues with the different calibers, or treat it as any other lower?

I am all too familiar with all this - but my question is;
all this applies regardless of the fact that this particular rifle/lower is a .308 receiver convertible to 5.56 (Assuming you’re familiar with the 901 model) - caliber shmaliber, given the factory engravings are somewhat permanent?
So this convertible 308/5.56 lower can be SBR’d like any other garden variety 5.56 lower - and I will be allowed to switch from 16" .308 to 12" 5.56 no problem once registered? That’s basically my question.
Knowng ATF is not exactly clear on many things nor should anything be assumed or taken for granted when dealing with anything NFA/new and/or different, right?

The lower is the NFA part and the part that is engraved. You can use whatever upper you want on a temporary basis. Nothing about the caliber changing has any affect on NFA matters. I can use a 300BLK upper on my SBR’d 5.56 lower.
