Nice! Digging the side charger!
Would be curious to hear how it functions when you do shoot it. Please post your take on it.
I agree. I have been thinking seriously about getting the same upper and building a similar setup but would like to have more “field use” feedback before doing so.
It is the crispest, smoothest feeling upper I have had the pleasures of breaking in. Nothing but reliability from the first trigger pull…
What is the length of those rails? I’m in the process of building a 10.5" gun and I LOVE the way yours looks, props on great looking build!

How does the chopped bolt catch affect your reloading process?
edit…
You just pull back on the handle and let go. There is no need to manipulate the bolt catch with this upper.
Not to seat a round but what if you need to clear a jam? It seems as if it would be something you would really need to get use to. The only logical way I could imagine to accomplish that is putting your right hand under the trigger guard to get to the bolt catch while using your left to charge the bolt back locking it in place. I think Phase 5 tactical makes a lever similar to the B.A.D. lever for this type of bolt catch.
Looks like your engraving was done with an electric pen.
No bolt release is just plain stupid. In the event that you have a double feed in a real life scenario you are are going to have hell (with the little nub) trying to hold the bolt to the rear, strip the mag and then potentially clear any rounds.
the only thing missing is the bolt release though- the catch is still there, unless i’m missing something
Your right. There is still part of it there and I probably should have differentiated. Seems silly to me.
there is still a reason for the basic design success…

Lol, no it was not done with a pen. It’s crisp and neat, I just haven’t filled it yet so it appears that way(the fact that it has snow down in the engraved area doesn’t help either). As for the bolt release, although the ping pong paddle isn’t there you can still manipulate it. Also, I’ve been working with a company in releasing a “b.a.d.” style lever for this upper and I will show off what they came up with in the near future.

Very nice. I really dig the look of the UBR on a SBR, and the KX3 w/ the handguard cap. SUPER SEXY! ![]()
what’s the knob of the side charger made out of, and how exactly is it attached to the carrier?
