Sadly I had to sell off my 10.5" LMT upper to help pay for college and though I know I made the right decision still kind of miffed I had to sell it. Well, I’ve decided to eventually swap out my 16" Middy and replace it with a SBR (the lower is already registered).
My question is this:
What are the trade offs between the 11.5" and the 12.5" besides the length? I do plan on eventually adding a suppressor to it as well.
I have read how the shorter barrels are hell on wear and tear on some of the parts etc.

Sorry if this was in the wrong place, or it has been answered, but looking more towards the wear and tear aspect than cost/ballistics.
I chose to go with 12.5 because because it’s the best of both worlds. I wanted a shorter barrel for weight and maneuverability but I also knew that if I went down to 10.5 I would lose a bit of distance/etc. After many discussions with folks on here and my own Googleresearch I decided that the 12.5 was what I was looking for. I know it’s only an inch difference on the 11.5 but the price was right and the timing was right. I trust that my Daniel Defense barrel will serve my needs. ymmv.
Thanks for the quick feedback. Are you going to eventually attacha suppressor? And does your DD have the new Omega X rails and your thoughts on it. Though the DD has caught my eye, still going to go BCM.
Maybe down the road I will pick up a can. I don’t have a full DD. It’s a build that I am putting together. It does have a DD Lite 10 rail. It’s a MUR upper and a Noveske lower. Once my stamp comes back it will be all put together. Right now it’s just parts.
I went with the 12.5" BCM and couldn’t be happier. This gun shoots everything I feed it. I only have 1500rds thru it so far but it has yet to malfunction.
