I am in the midst of a SBR build. I am torn between a muzzle brake or a flash hider. Muzzle brakes being considered are Surefire mb556k or aac brakeout. Flash hider being considered are Surefire Fh556-212 or AAC blackout. Going with a suppressor so the above choices are going to coincide with the companies can. Any feedback from anyone with either combination (Surefire or AAC) please chime in and let me know what you think. Thanks in advance
A brake on an SBR will create tons of flash, noise, and concussion.
Yes, it’s quite possibly one of the most obnoxious setups currently available. However, I will say that if the rifle will be run suppressed 100% of the time, one could make the argument. Otherwise–no way.
I have a 10.5" with the brakeout. Without the can on it is extremely loud, but awesome for muzzle control. Obviously it’s great with the can on.
I have had both the blackout and brakeout on it and prefer the brakeout with lots of ear pro.
Plus the brakeout is a hybrid and not a full brake.

I went the same route that your considering now, the brakeout is a hybrid but also helps protect your first baffle more then an FS. Currently I am running my 762Sd on it but it is moving to my 300AAC SBR upper and I have a Mini4 on order to replace it.

I get a severe case of, “fuck that.” concerning unsuppressed SBR’s utilizing brakes.
We run BC 2.0 on 10.5’s" This allows us to run Gemtech HALO’s if we want or remove them and not have the obnoxious blast to our sides. The BattleComp is a good mix of brake, comp, & flash hider, especially with SBRs.
nikuraba29 - Looks good, how do you like firing the brakeout w/o the suppressor. Is there a difference in POI with and without the suppressor mounted.
Thanks
Without a suppressor the brakeout is as obnoxious as it gets. It does however help protect that first baffle in side the suppressor. Fortunatly I usually shoot it mid-week, mid day when there is almost no one around to share the blast with. I usually yell “Back Blast Clear” before shooting it at the range. There was a shift in POI when the suppressor was put on, I would say 2-4 inches down and 2 inches to the right, I havent re-zeroed it because the primary for this SBR is going to be the Mini4.
I have a BC 2.0 on my SCAR and it defintely is a more milder shooting experience, but since I had the 762SD first I went with the AAC suppressors/brakes. Now if the HALO is on for Gemtax this year, I may get one.

Catch-22:
If you are going to run suppressed the majority of the time, you will be better off with a brake, to protect your baffles.
If you go with a brake, you will WANT & NEED to run it suppressed the majority of the time.
Thanks for the advice. I might look into the 762SD for that reason and be able to use it on a future 7.62 build as well.
My long term plan is that the 762SD is going on a 300AAC build and mini 4 will go on the SBR. The same reason I went with 762 was the multi-caliber use you get out of one suppressor.
