I have been waiting on an SBR to be transferred to my dealer from the original dealer. It has been almost 3 months. What are some recent dealer to dealer transfer times.

It seems to vary greatly by the examiner handling the transfer. I have had some Form 3s in 3 weeks and others in excess of 90 days. Things are moving slowly at NFA due to the number of transfers they are receiving daily. ( That is the way they explained it to me by NFA)
My SBR recently took about a month-5 weeks to transfer from the dealer I bought it to my local dealer. I was starting to worry because my local guy told me they were pretty quick, but I guess that is a relative term.
I’m in the process of doing that right now, and between the dealer transfer and the individual transfer to follow, I’m not planning on seeing the gun before Christmas.

I have only had one dealer to dealer transfer take more than a month. I would say 90% of my dealer to dealer transfers happened in about 3 weeks including the last one in May. In a month or so I will be getting a factory SBR transferred to my local dealer so I hope the streak continues…3 months is insane.
Form 3s for us typically range from 3-4 weeks. Even Form 4s from individuals to us for consignment are typically 4 weeks.
Thanks for the info. For a dealer to dealer transfer this is taking way too long for some reason.
I’ve done two in the last year each took about three weeks.

Have you called your dealer/dealers to see if they have any idea what is going on?
There is more to the story than I want to talk about here but yes I have contacted the dealer. All he knows is he has not received the paperwork from NFA. I have requested the serial number from him so my dealer can check on the paperwork with NFA. For some reason I still have not received it from him.
I have bought guns and other items from out of state dealers with no problems. This is the first time I have ever had problems.
FWIW the quickest Form 3 we ever got approved was from Arsenal to us, approved in 1 day.
I thought something sounded fishy but it looks like you’re tracking on that.
My first SBR was on form 1. It took 70 days from the time I mailed it until it was approved.
I called the manufacturer and got the serial number. Called NFA and found out it was approved July 29. I will be glad when it gets to my dealer and I can see some light at the end of this mess.
From now on I will stick to doing my own and going Form 1.

I submitted a form 1 that went pending in 30 days. It was been 35 days since it went pending.

I’m wating on a transfer to my SOT from an individual and it’s right at 8 weeks. Since it’s going to a dealer, it should be no worse than a dealer to dealer?
