Saw Noveske at gunshow today but

So noveske is my dream rifle and when I seen one at the show today I knew I was going to walk out with one but something just did not seem right. On closer inspection they did not have a heavy buffer the castle nut was not stacked at all and the gas key had only minimal staking. Not sure what to think so thought I’d ask for some help.

what was marked Noveske? Could of been someone bought a lower and slapped it with parts and threw an upper on there. Did the barrel have an M4 Step down/contour? Did it have a vortex flashhider?

Looked like a noveske on the outside everything said noveske the minlegnth had a Geissele trigger. This was a shop and they had three as well as ddm4 and others.

Only explanation that I could think of was they bought the upper without the bolt and threw a bolt in there and installed a lpk in a stripped noveske lower hence no H buffer and no staked castle nut.

Why not contact Grant of G & R Tactical and see if there’s a particular Noveske rifle in-stock that you’re seeking to secure?

Did it have the laser engraving that matches between the upper and lower?

What was the barrel marked? The heart of a Noveske rifle is the barrel. You can take the rest - if the barrel isn’t marked Noveske, then the rifle isn’t a Noveske, regardless of what rollmark is on the lower.

Here’s what they’re referencing:

Excellent pictures. The barrel marking is critical. John Noveske is known first and foremost for his barrels; I believe the lower is just a CMT lower with the Noveske rollmark. Hence my comment that the barrel is the heart of the rifle and what makes a Noveske rifle unique.

FYI - As for the neat marking that matches the upper to the lower, those do not appear on all Noveske rifles. If the upper uses the VLTOR MUR, then that engraving does not appear.

Im going to try to get to the shop after work on monday ill lookat the things you have mentioned. Another thing I found odd was three different models as far as gas systems carbine mid and full all the same price and the price seemed good but the ddm4 was over 300.00 over retail. None of this seemed to add up to me.

Sounds like someone built a weapon on a stripped lower.

If thats whats going on shouldnt Noveske be told?

No, they sell stripped lowers to several vendors.

If you don’t like what you see or have lingering concerns, Noveske has a number of complete rifles on his website now for order. They aren’t as hard to find now as they were six months ago. Good luck.

Trojanman,

I think Kimbo and Stick hit the nail on the head…This was most likely built on a stripped lower. I own several Noveske’s and have shot many more. All had properly staked gas keys and castle nuts and either a H or H2 buffer.

Keep the dream alive and purchase one from the Noveske website, I doubt you will be disappointed.

This. Why not just order one directly?

Indeed, I remeber purchasing a N4 lower stripped from Rainier 6 months ago when they were hard to come by for like $375 and now they can be had for less than $200. Good thing I sold that lower for $600 with a lpk in it. haha

I should have known 1699 was too cheap

Depends what model you want but you can get one under $1500.00
