I am gathering parts to assemble a retro 20" M-16A1. I am considering the A1 profile barrel for $150.00 as listed on the Sarco web site. Anyone have any experience, good or bad? Any feedback appreciated.
For that amount of money there is a high possibility it is not complete, heavily used, or refinished or a combination of the three.
I’d pass and find a early upper off of gunbroker and remove its barrel.
I think Grant has some Colt pencil barrels in stock.
Sarco represents it as, “AR15/M16 Complete & Stripped Early Barrel Assemblies (the thin M16A1 & AR15) - These are current production barrels made by a top line AR15 manufacturer. Your choice of 16” or 20" barrel -
Barrel only with sight base and barrel nut… $149.95 View Photo"
I’m hearing new manufacture, etc…
Thoughts?
Junk
No quality barrel sells for $150
They are not real USGI thin barrels.
Ok, besides getting a used Bbl from someone where can I get a new 20" A1 contoured bbl?
Fulton Armory had Saco barrels at one time and used them in their retro builds. I’ve seen them off and on since. Give them a call. .
Is this the Sarco that is in NJ?
If so, I would not buy a single thing from them lol.
I went there once when I was looking for my AR because someone said they had complete rifles. All they had was Nazi memorabilia and broken WW2 rifles. The place is a dump. Was a total waste of my time.
As was mentioned before, I don’t know much about AR’s as I am still new, but what I have learned from this forum is that just like with everything else, you get what you pay for. This barel just does not sound right to me, and having seen the place myself, I would not buy from them…
Nobody makes real A1 contoured barrels anymore.
Your best bet is to find a nice condition A1 barrel of the EE or gunbroker.
ntxt…
