Who is planing on going? Heading there now to meet some friends.
And what is there to do in Phoenix? Never been and will be there tomorrow at least through Saturday so any ideas would be welcome.
Not sure what there is to do in Phoenix per se, but there is stuff within a few hours drive worth looking at.
Casa Grande National Monument. I-10 E towards Tucson. Not a long drive.
Boyce Thompson Arboretum which is east of Phoenix about 60 miles or so. Nice place to walk and see indigenous plants and what not.
Montezuma’s Castle. Straight up the I-17 towards Prescott/Flagstaff. Interesting info about their culture and that they disappeared almost without a trace.
Picacho Peak. I-10E towards Tucson (and past Casa Grande) Site of civil war skirmish between Union Cavalry from CA and Texas Confederates.
These are the ones that pop into my head aside from the usual places. I would also venture up to Scottsdale Gun Club.
I will possibly be there on Saturday at some point near the SIONICS location.
My son and I are planning on being there on Sunday. Not sure what you mean by “what there is to do”, since everything is subjective with each individual.
The Cardinals are playing Sunday, so sports wise, it would be hard to beat that.
Depending on how long you are in town I would check out the Kartchner Caverns down by Tucson. Also down there is a museum made from an ICBM silo. Really cool. You go down into the silo command center and do a mock launch.
On the other side of the state there is some sweet hiking up in Sedona. Flagstaff has the Lowell Observatory. There is always the Grand Canyon.
As far as metro Phoenix goes we have everything any major metro city has.
