I was interested in putting the Sage EBR stock on my match M1A, but I noticed on Fulton Armory’s site that they say the stock will not fit on rifles with heavy barrels. Is this accurate information? My M1A is the Springfield Super Match with a Douglas Heavy Match barrel. The receiver also has the rear lug.
The rifle has always shot great, but I’ve never been a big fan of the oversized wood stock that it came with.
The Sage system will only work with a barrel up to medium contour.
Also it is not compatable with a rearlugged reciever.
SAGE makes a different top hanguard for match really heavy barrels. These had less holes for the mounting screws which will allow the use of a heavier barrel. Call SAGE for this part.
Thanks for the replies. Unless Sage has a solution for the rear lugged receiver as well, I’ll probably just use this as an excuse to get a second M1A. 
The Mod 1 chasis would take the heavier barrels. The Mod 0 would not (at least out of the box)
I had a M1A loaded, Sage upper piece wouldnt clear the barrel. This was a few years ago when the stock was band new, AFAIK they have worked around that issue.
That is still the case with the Mod 0 chasis.

Yes, Sage makes a different hanguard top with less screws,
it is used for medium contour or medium heavy.
Thats as big as you can go barrel wise with the Sage stock.
