I have a Les Baer Thunder Ranch AR15 that has a Jewel two stage trigger (installed at factory). I’ve replaced the grip with MIAD grip and both the detent and spring are engaged properly.
Here’s what I found. when the hammer is in the “up” position I can still rotate the selector to the “safe” position.
On my other AR’s, which are standard triggers I cannot rotate the selector into the "safe position when the hammer is in the up condition (not charged/cocked)
Is this natural for a two stage trigger or have I done something to the selector that I don’t know about ???
Correct trigger/safety selector function checks work perfectly.
No it’s not normal. If the hammer is not fully forward then the safety will go on safe. If the safety is going on then I’m thinking that the hammer is not dropping all the way. Call Les Baer and have them take a look.
I took off the grip and assured the the detent was in the correct way (pointed end up) and that spring is properly pushing up agains’t the detent. All this is in place and it still goes on safe without the hammer being charged (cocked)
The hammer appears to be going fully upwards into the firing pin.
I have a similar issue with a Timney Trigger, but not as bad as yours. With the hammer all the way up (decocked) I can rotate the selector about half way towards “safe” before it hits resistance and won’t go any further. The selector still works, so I haven’t bothered trying to figure it out.
